Sei bella – dico alla vita –
è impensabile più rigoglio,
più rane e più usignoli,
più formiche e più germogli.
Cerco di accattivarmela,
di blandirla, vezzeggiarla.
La saluto sempre per prima
Con umile espressione.
Le taglio la strada da sinistra,
le taglio la strada da destra,
e mi innalzo nell’incanto,
e cado per lo stupore.
Quanto è di campo questo grillo,
e di bosco questo frutto –
mai l’avrei creduto
se non avessi vissuto!
Non trovo nulla – le dico –
a cui paragonarti.
Nessuno ha fatto un’altra pigna
né migliore, né peggiore.
Lodo la tua larghezza,
inventiva ed esattezza,
e cos’altro – e cosa più –
magia, stregoneria.
Mai vorrei recarti offesa
né adirarti per dileggio.
Da centomila anni almeno
Sorridendo ti corteggio.
Tiro la vita per una foglia:
si è fermata? Se n’è accorta?
Si è scordata dove corre,
